Seven Languages in Seven Weeks


I recently read “Seven Languages in Seven Week” [Pragmatic, Bruce Tate, 2010], and found it very interesting. This is not a book about spoken languages, but computer languages.

As someone who has worked mostly with PHP, JavaScript and Java in my professional career over the last ten years, it is both refreshing and needed to see alternative programming languages and paradigms...

 

great childrens learning shows


i suddenly remembered the show square one tv on PBS, from when i was really young (apparently 1987-1991). this show played a big factor in me becoming enthralled in mathematics.

there were other great shows besides the popular sesame street - the edison twins, reading rainbow.

even as i was in my early teens, shows like bill nye and wishbone were entertaining and informative at the same time.

i hope todays children's shows are as cool - i have not watched blue's clues, dora the explorer or baby einsteins but have heard mixed review
